Binary Rain is a free, browser-based falling-code effect. By default it streams endless columns of 0s and 1s down the screen, but it can just as easily rain your own text — a customizable take on the classic digital-rain look that runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install.
Pick a mode from the Source dropdown: Binary for pure 0/1 code, Custom characters to build the rain from any characters you type, or Custom words to make whole words fall down each column, readable top to bottom. Drag the Speed and Density sliders to control how fast the streams fall and how many columns fill the screen, then choose one of six color themes — classic green, cyber cyan, red alert, neon purple, amber, or white — from the Color menu. Hit START RAIN to begin, PAUSE to freeze the animation, and FULLSCREEN for an edge-to-edge view. Press H at any time to hide or show the control panel for a clean, uncluttered capture.
The effect makes a great animated backdrop for videos, presentations, and cyberpunk or hacker-themed scenes. Streamers can add the page as an OBS browser source for a live falling-code background, and the custom words mode lets you turn your channel name, brand, or a call-to-action like SUBSCRIBE into the rain itself. It also works well as ambient screen decoration on a spare monitor.
If you like this effect, try the katakana-style Matrix rain, the fake hacking terminal, the retro oscilloscope, or browse the full streaming toolkit for more overlay-ready visuals.
